Decibel Geek Podcast

Filmmaker Andrew Sgambati is with us this week to talk about The Greatest Show on Earth as well as to pick our Top 5 KISS Songs 1974-1977! While there's a ton of controversy surrounding the Hottest Band in the Land in 2018 we're happy to have Andrew on to discuss a time when all was right in the world. The mid-1970's were a magical time for KISS. The strength of their six studio albums and two live albums propelled the band into the heights of pop culture consciousness in 1977. Inspired by such a special era for the band, Andrew channeled that inspiration into making The Greatest Show on Earth; a concert film/documentary sourced from video from live 1977 concerts and audio from Alive II.

Promoter Joe D'Angelo joins us for Vinnie Vincent Special vol6; our thoughts on Miami, Memphis, and more. We said we'd never do another one of these but with recent events taking place, we had to chime in. In this latest volume, Joe tells us about his experience booking and working with Vinnie Vincent. Vinnie appeared in Miami for The Gathering KISS Kruise Preparty. He appeared for two meet and greet days as well as a performance with Four by Fate onstage for a few songs. Joe gives us the details on what it's like working with Vinnie, how he was to the fans, as well as his thoughts on the onstage performance. We also give our thoughts on Vinnie's performance of Lick It Up, I Love It Loud, and Cold Gin.

Moving on from Miami, Joe stays with us to discuss our thoughts (at that time) about the upcoming 2 night stand at Graceland in Memphis. We delve into what are expectations would be for the fans that are traveling to Tennessee, how ticket sales seemed to be going and speculation on what would go down.

A few days after recording with Joe, a Vinnie Vincent bombshell was dropped. The Memphis shows have been postponed (just weeks away from their confirmed dates) and the show is being moved to Nashville in February. While refunds and exchanges seem to be available to ticket buyers, it became apparent quickly that a number of Vinnie Vincent fans were going to be mightily inconvenienced due to this short notice schedule/city change. We give our unfiltered thoughts on this whole mess and state what we think is going to happen (or not happen) in Nashville in February of 2019.

We hope you enjoy Vinnie Vincent Special vol6 - Ep341 and SHARE with a friend.

State of Euphoria

Shawn Franklin, as you'll also hear in our past Albums Unleashed for Spreading the Disease, has been given the enviable task of sifting through drummer Charlie Benante's Anthrax audio archive. In this 30th Anniversary deluxe edition of State of Euphoria you're getting some incredible material. Disc 1 features a remastered version of the studio album as well as bonus material recorded during the sessions. Disc 2 features Charlie's Archive; tapes from the man himself that Shawn worked on. He painstakingly assembled the best parts of the tapes to give you, the listener, an audio evolution of the songs on the album. From idea tapes to rehearsals to recording to final mix, you'll get a backstage pass to Anthrax in the late 80's as they put State of Euphoria together.

We appreciate Shawn Franklin joining us this week and encourage you to purchase the new 30th Anniversary Deluxe edition of Anthrax State of Euphoria!
