The guys are back this week to pick up where they left off with Gary Corbett reliving more Eric Carr memories. The conversation picks up with much more home video commentary including KISS' appearance at the Monsters of Rock festival in 1988, run  ins with wild fans in Budapest Hungary, a strange trip to Iceland, and much more video from the road.

The guys also wrap things up with a discussion with Gary about what Eric would think about the music business these days, what he would be doing if he were around today, as well as talk about a long-rumored reunion tour in 1990 that didn't come to fruition. The Decibel Geek podcast wants to thank Gary Corbett for sharing more great Eric Carr memories and we look forward to his next appearance. Former KISS keyboardist and friend of Eric Carr joins the guys this week to celebrate the life of the late drummer on the 25th anniversary of his loss. Gary joined KISS in 1987 for the Crazy Nights tour and remained with the band throughout 1990's Hot in the Shade tour. During this period he developed a close bond with Eric Carr as the two would spend much of their free time entertaining each other on the road. In this long form talk, Gary shares stories from his friendship with Eric including some behind the scenes stories that should be new to many KISS fans.

Eric Carr Remembered with Gary Corbett decibel geek podcast

Eric Carr

Also, Gary shows Chris and Aaron some home videos from his days in KISS and gets their reactions. Footage viewed includes an impromptu 40th birthday party in Eric's hotel room attended by Eric, Gary, Gene Simmons, Bruce Kulick and then-girlfriend Carrie Stevens. Other candid footage discussed includes a golf outing in Ireland with Paul Stanley and a famous British singer he was dating at the time.

The guys also view and discuss some cool live footage from the Monsters of Rock tour of Europe in 1988 as well as shows on the Hot in the Shade tour. This conversation went very long and was a lot of fun thus, the necessity to break it up into parts. Part 1 is just the tip of the iceberg as there's much more Eric Carr and KISS talk to come in Part 2. We hope you enjoy Eric Carr Remembered with Gary Corbett Pt1 and SHARE with a friend!

Hoser Heavy Metal Vol. 5 with Löve RazërThis week on the Decibel Geek Podcast it's time for the yearly break for hosts Chris and Aaron. As the guys take the week off to enjoy their Thanksgiving football and turkey et al, The Canadian Hosers take over for their fifth time. Self-dubbed "The Hoser Heavy Metal Twins", mostly due to being born on the very same day....and mass beer consumption during the moniker choosing process....Wally "Wallygator" Norton and Rich "The Meister" Dillon are Decibel Geek's Original Hosers. In the past, the Canadians' yearly hosted podcast has included the introduction of a lot of Canadian music as well as special guests like Greg Fraser and Stevie Skreebs from Canadian band Brighton Rock.

This year we find the Hoser Metalheads at a pub in Etobicoke, Ontario (nearby their favorite rock club, The Rockpile) with the new band Löve Razër. This quartet of youthful Sunset Strip style rockers met with our Hosers a few hours before taking The Rockpile stage to open up for Tracii Guns back in October.

Löve Razër was introduced to Decibel Geek by a friend of Wally's and after hearing the EP Rock n' Roll Addiction, Wally felt compelled to write a review (EP Review). From there the floodgates of Decibel Geek love opened up for Löve Razër. Regular podcast hosts Chris and Aaron spun a track shortly after during a Fresh Blood themed episode (Fresh Blood Vol.4 Ep#239). Rich "The Meister" Dillon saw the band's first ever live show in Toronto (Live at the Linsmore). Laura Suchan reviewed her first Löve Razër performance as the band stormed Oshawa, Ontario (Live in Oshawa). Staff writer Blair DeAbreu covered a Löve Razër show in London, Ontario (Live at Eastsides). Star photographer Shawn "Animalize" Irwin has also been on hand to capture incredible stage moments for Löve Razër (Live at the Rockpile).

One of Decibel Geek's writers based in the UK has even reached out and requested a copy of the EP!

As you'll hear throughout this in-depth discussion, Löve Razër's members completely missed the Sunset Strip era averagely aged 20-21. Yet the band emulate the sounds and styles so well in the just over a year that they've been together. You'll hear about the plans for an upcoming full-length and touring hopes. Also discussed is the formation of Löve Razër, why and how they got into sleaze/glam rock, a special Decibel Geek connection, and some stories from the road. We hope you enjoy Hoser Heavy Metal Vol. 5 with Löve Razër and SHARE with a friend!

Very Solid Show!

Can't say enough great things about this podcast. I just recently discovered the Decibel Geek podcast and I'm having a blast going through the archived episodes. These guys show the love for all things rock and metal. I love the what if scenarios they talk about with Shoulda Been a Single being very entertaining. The Albums Unleashed episodes are great and it's awesome to get the scoop on awesome albums like Warrant's Dog Eat Dog, Kiss' Carnival of Souls, Alice Cooper's DaDa and Skid Row's Slave to the Grind. Good conversations on every episode...same kinda chats that my buddies and I have on Friday nights over some beers. It's also great to be turned on to stuff that I've never heard before...I'm always looking for something fresh to these ears. If you love rock and metal...download NOW!!

Geeks of the Week:

Chris and Aaron will read a double shot of "Geeks of the Week" on their next episode. The Canadian Hoseheads did not have the information at the time of recording, so feel free to overshare this one and make Chris' job extra hard next week :)

We will also be selecting, at random, 5 sharers of this episode to receive a free Löve Razër Rock n Roll Addiction EP. But...you must meet three requirements first: 1- share this episode (which you already do anyway). 2- "Like" the Löve Razër Facebook page (which you may already have done anyway). 3- Leave them a comment on the Löve Razër page letting them know that you heard the episode (easy to do)...... we'll have a member of the band randomly select 5 names and if you've completed this trilogy we'll mail you an EP!

The guys are joined this week by DBG VIP The Rockin' Donkey for a Y&T Discussion. Formed in 1973 in Oakland, California, Y&T were originally known as Yesterday and Today. After two good, but poorly received, albums for London Records the band, featuring singer/guitarist Dave Meneketti, guitarist Joey Alves, bassist Phil Kennemore, and drummer Leonard Haze, were signed to A&M Records. 1981's Earthshaker would kick off the newly re-branded Y&T and launch a trilogy of albums that formed the backbone of their concert set list and solidified their fan base. Rounding out that trilogy were 1982's Black Tiger and 1983's Mean Streak. While these albums had moderate success, the higher positions of the Billboard charts continued to elude Y&T. That theme would continue with 1984's In Rock We Trust but the tide would change with the release of the song Summertime Girls. Originally appearing as the lone studio track on the live Open Fire album, the song would get added to 1985's Down for the Count and give Y&T some serious commercial attention. That attention would be fleeting however as Summertime Girls remains their biggest hit single and Y&T was subsequently dropped from A&M Records.

Y&T Discussion decibel geek podcast episode 263

Y&T

1987 saw the band re-emerge on the rock-heavy Geffen label. Original drummer Leonard Haze was out and new drummer Jimmy Degrasso was in. Contagious had every ingredient from the keyboard to the hooks to the hairspray that should've assured bigger success. Unfortunately, the guiding hand of John Kalodner couldn't pull Y&T to the success of which he had with Aerosmith. After releasing 1990's Ten album (featuring new guitarist Stef Burns replacing Alves), Y&T took a long break as the new wave of Grunge music started to take over. 1995 saw the band return with Musically Incorrect; an album that had solid material yet certainly was not flavor-of-the-week fare. That trend would continue with 1997's aptly titled Endangered Species. Y&T would go on an extended hiatus as guitarist/singer Dave Meneketti focused on a solo career. The band would come back to rave reviews in 2010 with Facemelter (featuring new drummer Mike Vanderhule); an album that showed a serious return to form for the band. Tragically, this would be the final album for bassist Phil Kennemore who succumbed to cancer during the touring cycle for the album. Y&T would soldier on with replacement bassist Brad Lang before being replaced in 2016 by Aaron Leigh. The band had two more tragic losses in 2016 as original drummer Leonard Haze and longtime sound man Tom Size both passed away.

In this in-depth discussion your hosts and guest discuss the history of the band and go through each album in the studio discography. Favorite and least favorite tracks are discussed as well as album covers and lyrics. Underlining much of the conversation are theories of why this amazing band never achieved bigger success. It's a long, fun discussion about a band that continues to wow crowds 40 years after the release of their first album. We hope you enjoy Y&T Discussion - Ep263 and SHARE with a friend!

I just started listening a last week. I listened to "1974 in Review" and that was cool! I grew up a Kiss fan. I loved that so much Kiss came up and the Casablanca insight. Also, I really enjoyed the Ratt/Alexi show! I had forgotten how great Ratt was. I'll be looking for some of those songs you guys played. I will going back and listening to more past shows (more than likely all of the past shows) as well as looking forward to your new ones. Thanks guys!

Skid Row bassist Rachel Bolan and producer Michael Wagener join the guys this week for Albums Unleashed Skid Row. Recorded in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Skid Row was released January 24, 1989 on Atlantic Records. Thanks to strong response to singles such as 'Youth Gone Wild,' '18 and Life,' 'Piece of Me,' and the ballad 'I Remember You,' Skid Row would go on to sell over 5 million copies. This self-titled debut featured the talents of bassist Bolan, drummer Rob Affuso, singer Sebastian Bach, and the twin-guitar assault of Scotti Hill and Dave "The Snake" Sabo. In this nearly two hour discussion, Bolan discusses the early days of Skid Row, including a period pre-Bach that featured vocalist Matt Fallon. Fallon would unfortunately go down in infamy as someone that lost out on stardom not once but twice as he was jettisoned from jobs with Anthrax and Skid Row. Bolan also shares the circumstances that led to Bach's hiring at the young age of 19. Michael Wagener shares his memories of how he was brought on board to produce the album by A&R man Jason Flom and Skid Row manager Doc McGhee.

Albums Unleashed Skid Row decibel geek podcast

Albums Unleashed Skid Row

Skid Row's beginnings were helped in part to Bon Jovi. Guitarist Sabo was childhood friends with Jon Bon Jovi  and the friends had agreed to help each other out if one "made it" before the other. But Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora were not going to lend a hand until Skid Row was ready. In this long-form discussion, Bolan shares stories of rounds of songwriting between he and Sabo being critiqued by the two Bon Jovi leaders and scrutinized until they deemed the band ready.

Recording the album in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Skid Row and Wagener got down to business right away. In this discussion, Michael shares his memories of the production of 'Skid Row' and how the band, while certainly having a wild side, were all business when it came to their time in the studio. Rachel also remembers the hobbies that he took up to help pass the time in the Midwest during production.

Bolan and Wagener detail track by track the songwriting and production of each song on the album. It's an in-depth look behind the scenes of one of the biggest hard rock debut albums of all-time. Soccer legend Alexi Lalas joins the guys this week for a RATT Discussion; breaking down all eight studio albums and discussing the history of the band. RATT was one of the most notable bands to emerge from the burgeoning Sunset Strip era of the early 1980's. From the self-titled EP that earned them a roster spot on Atlantic Records to the breakthrough success of Out of the Cellar, RATT let the world know early and often that they were a force to be reckoned with. Guitarists Robbin Crosby and Warren DeMartini formed a tandem that would write some of hard rock's most memorable riffs. Bobby Blotzer and Juan Croucier combined for a powerful rhythm section. And Stephen Pearcy topped things off with a sleazy look and vocal delivery that made RATT stand out from the pack.

RATT Discussion with Alexi Lalas decibel geek podcast

RATT Discussion with Alexi Lalas

In this nearly 2-hour music and discussion talk, Alexi Lalas explains how he first discovered RATT as a youngster in suburban Detroit. In addition to the muscial influence the band had on him, he shares stories of how the band's fashion sense rubbed off on him. It's no doubt a fact that RATT's influence would help inspire Alexi to have one of the most unique looks in the world of sports in the 1990's.

Alexi Lalas
Alexi Lalas

Your three hosts break down every album including the often-underrated Dancing Undercover as well as Detonator. They also discuss later albums including the 1999 self-titled album that sported a different sound than what most RATT fans were accustomed to. 2010 saw RATT return to form with Infestation; a solid slab of classic-sounding RATT material that the rock world took to immediately. In this long-form episode, Alexi shares his thoughts on these albums as well as the situation concerning Bobby Blotzer's new version of RATT, the legal wrangling that's been taking place over the last year, and the recent Monsters of Rock Cruise performance of the remaining members of RATT. It's a solid block of RATT and Roll. We hope you enjoy RATT Discussion with Alexi Lalas and SHARE with a friend!

Holy S#@T!!! Great Episode this week. "Rare Hair" was killer. This week was just phenomenal as is every week. Even when they banter incessantly about KISS they are still entertaining and informative. Never seems to disappoint. Makes me look forward to every upcoming week to get the new episodes!! They constantly remind us that there are more to the bands we love beside "The Hits"! Rare Hair got down to the meat and potatoes of why we love the bands we do. The Hits brought us the band, Rare Hair showed is why they are still in our hearts. Keep the flag flying guys!!!

Keep the Decibels rising!
by Stepxen on Sep 15, 2016
RATING: ★★★★★
Decibel Geek was one of the first podcasts I started liste Rxning to and they have given me much to enjoy! Great interviews and Albums Unleashed on some of my favorites! Chris and Aaron have a good chemistry and while one loves Ugly Kid Joe way to much they both love KISS and that's fine by me!My absolute favorite episode is the episode on DaDa. Any show that does a full episode interviewing the GREAT Dick Wagner about the vastly underrated DaDa album has my glowing adoration. That album is so genius and overlooked and I am so glad that you guys interviewed him before he was gone about this gem!The John Corabi and Toby Wright (Carnival) interviews were great too, both albums are largely overlooked but the s/t Motley album is IMO their best and Carnival is easily in my top 3 KISS albums of all times, so to hear the behind the scenes stories was wonderful! Keep up the good work guys!

Rare Hare

In this long-form discussion and music episode, Tyson shares the Rare Hare series story. This series of concerts features professional musicians of multiple genres coming together for a night of deep cuts that celebrate one of our favorite eras of music. Tyson relays how the shows have been set up and how, through this burgeoning Nashville community, it's brought business relationships and friendships together as well as a chance to see some of our Hair-era heroes performing their own songs in an intimate setting. Among the recognizable names performing this time are Anthony Corder (Tora Tora), Dave Marshall (Vince Neil, Slaughter), Greg Mangus, Peter Baltes & Christopher Williams (ACCEPT), Sandy Gennaro (Blackjack), ZP Theart (Skid Row, Dragonforce), Jeff Labar (Cinderella), Ricky Dover (The Tip), Jeremy Asbrock (Rock N Roll Residency, John Corabi), Ryan Cook (Big Rock Show, Hard of the Dog), Rachel Bolan (Skid Row), Dakota Denman (Denman), Anthony Focx (Beautiful Creatures). During the discussion the guys each pick three songs that are slated for the upcoming Rare Hare 3 show as a cool way to give you a preview of what to expect. It's a fun discussion underscored by a ton of great tunes. We hope you enjoy Rare Hare with Tyson Leslie and SHARE with a friend!

The math checks out!

in iTunes by pleeb from USA on August 12, 2016

If you thought math in an audio podcast form sounds boring, check this podcast out. The Decimal Geeks turn math into a radio play with numbers. You are so absorbed by the comedy and soundscape that you subliminally learn all kinds of neat math tricks. Example: To quickly multiply by 5, dive the number in two and then multiply it by 10. The hosts Chris SynchMath and Aaron CosineMajor really make math fun… and ALMOST cool. All my friends at the University of Wisconsin—Madison listen but show is great for students at any level. And give the show a try, even if you don’t think you like math. As they say at the end of each show: "The Hypotenuse has a square on, which is equal Pythagoras instructed, to the sum of the squares on the other two sides If a triangle is cleverly constructed.”

Joshua Toomey from Talk Toomey podcast joins the guys this week for Metallica Discussion; 2 hours-plus of talk about the band's 9 official studio albums as well as their history. Formed in 1981 in Los Angeles, Metallica would eventually solidify their original lineup of James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Dave Mustaine, and Cliff Burton. The band would then move north to the Bay Area, sign a recording contract with Megaforce Records, fire Dave Mustaine, hire Kirk Hammett and the rest is thrash history.

Singer Greg Mangus joins Chris and Aaron this week to discuss his "almost famous" career in music; one that includes numerous collaborations with notable musicians across multiple genres. Greg is well-known in Nashville music circles for a number of projects that include Thee Rock N Roll Residency, St. James Infirmary, Noise Pollution (AC/DC tribute), and Jimmy the Weed (Thin Lizzy tribute).

Greg Mangus

Greg Mangus

In this hour-plus talk, Greg shares some fantastic stories of his early days in the burgeoning Florida rock scene in the 1980's, a string of co-writes with R&B group Cameo, his move to New York city upon which he received a solo artist contract from Polygram Records (and the fallout that occurred thereafter), a left-turn away from rock with a boogie-swing band Set Em Up Joe, and ultimately the move to Nashville and a journey back into rock music. That journey would take him to Thee Rock N Roll Residency and, later, an onstage jam with Cheap Trick's Robin Zander and his endorsement of Greg to be the next singer for AC/DC. In this discussion, Greg shares his memory of what took place after that endorsement and how the door may not be closed on that situation. It's a fun talk filled with lots of great stories. We hope you enjoy Conversation with Greg Mangus and SHARE with a friend!

Producer and longtime friend of Ace Frehley, Crazy Joe Renda stops by to share Ace Stories about everyone's favorite spaceman. Joe first came to prominence in KISS fan circles with the novelty song, 'Eugene' released under the moniker of Crazy Joe & The Variable Speed Band. The song would go down in KISSTORY as Ace Frehley's first musical project outside of the band as he's a co-writer and co-producer of the song. Joe also founded and ran North Lake Sound studio in White Plains, NY along with fellow songwriter Chip Taylor (known for ' Wild Thing', 'Rock Soldiers' and 'Angel of the Morning'). Joe is also the producer for prank phone call legends The Jerky Boys.

Ace Stories with Crazy Joe Renda decibel geek podcast episode 249

Ace Stories with Crazy Joe Renda

In this long-form conversation, Joe shares some incredible stories of hanging out with Ace Frehley and being around the business of KISS. Stories of the interpersonal relationships between Ace and the other members of the band are shared including the dynamic between the "2 camps" of Simmons and Stanley vs Criss and Frehley. Also included are Joe's recollections of Ace's decision to quit KISS and how Gene Simmons pleaded with Joe to attempt to keep Ace on as a member of the band. Other stories involving a testy meeting between Peter Criss and Eric Carr, loads of stories of Ace truly being a rock  n' roll wild man and so much more including the story of how 'Eugene' was created and how it connects to KISS (not in the way you would expect). It's an hour-plus of jaw dropping stories about Jendell's favorite son. We hope you enjoy Ace Stories with Crazy Joe Renda and SHARE with a friend!

Accept drummer Christopher Williams stops by this week to discuss his lifelong love affair with the Hottest Band in the Land. In this long-form talk, Williams talks about his discovery of KISS via the MTV Unplugged appearance in 1995. He also talks about the MTV Video Music Awards performance that the reunited band gave under the Brooklyn Bridge as the clincher in his fandom. Christopher is no ordinary KISS fan. In this hour-plus discussion he describes the scenario which led him seek and acquire one of Peter Criss' reunion era drum sets. It's a great story that has many twists and turns. He also relives his first KISS concert and how he had interactions with each band member throughout the set.

Christopher Williams Accept Interview KISS decibel geek podcast episode 247

Christopher Williams

Aside from playing with metal legends ACCEPT, Christopher works steadily in numerous other musical endeavors including performances with a local group of musicians known as Blonder Than Hell. This group features bassist ET Brown, Williams, and Thee Rock N' Roll Residency founders (and former guests on this show) Jeremy Asbrock and Phillip Shouse. This KISS tribute is absolutely incredible and is not afraid to deliver the rarities that the official product shies away from. This year, they are performing a KISSMAS in July gig in Nashville, TN at Exit/In. This special show will feature the band in full makeup and costume performing, in their entirety, the Hotter Than Hell and Destroyer albums. It's sure to be a great night so join Chris and Aaron if you can. More info can be found HERE.

Singer/Songwriter and member of Devil City Angels, Brandon Gibbs joins Chris and Aaron this week for a discussion of his career and future projects. In this hour-plus discussion, Brandon talks about his early influences in blues music including Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan, his partnership with twin brother Brent that allowed him to open for many notable artists including Peter Frampton, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, and Poison. His friendship with Rikki Rockett would later earn dividends in the form of Devil City Angels (also including members Tracii Guns, Eric Brittingham and, later, Rudy Sarzo). In this long form discussion, Brandon shares his take on what's next for Devil City Angels and how the demands of the other members' projects have pushed him to find work in numerous ways in the music industry.

In this episode, Brandon shares his memories of the audition process, his thoughts on the fan reaction to the shows, his take on Bret Michaels, as well as an update on what the remaining members of Poison have planned in the near future.

Hard rock is my drug of choice and I ’m always searching for my next high. Thank God for the Decibel Geeks and their Fresh Blood episodes. They turned me on to the Biters recently. I downloaded some tunes and was instantly hooked. Then I checked to see if they were on tour and discovered they were coming to my area next week! I'll definitely be front row and adding a new tee shirt to my collection. I'€™ll tell them the Decibel Geek sent me. Thanks Aaron & Chris!

This week Chris and Aaron are joined by Jeremy Asbrock and Philip Shouse of Thee Rock N Roll Residency to discuss Guitar Duos. These two awesome musicians are regularly belting out a twin guitar attack every Tuesday night at the Residency. They are joined by numerous familiar names and faces every week and have been a huge factor in the rise of Nashville as a rock city. Thee Rock N Roll Residency has featured guests from a long line of legendary bands including Skid Row, ACCEPT, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple, Motley Crue, RATT and tons more including Alice Cooper himself. If you're ever in Nashville on a Tuesday night, you owe it to yourself to check out Thee Rock N Roll Residency. The venue is Harp & Fiddle. DJ Brandy Goldsboro starts at 7pm (no requests, trust us on this) and the band takes the stage at 8pm.

In this 2 hour discussion, you'll hear the guys discuss the evolution of guitar duos starting from the early days of The Beatles and going through the 70's with such acts as AC/DC and Thin Lizzy and into the 80's and 90's with the rise of metal and bands like Judas Priest, Queensryche, and many, many more. Tons of music, tons of stories, and a great trip down memory lane. We hope you enjoy Guitar Duos with Thee Rock N Roll Residency and SHARE with a friend!

The guys are joined this week by filmmaker/guitarist Steve McClure to discuss the great new rock documentary Hair I Go Again; a film that follows the long journey of two middle aged guys attempting to put their 80's rock band back together, the twists and turns, highs and lows, and challenges they face. Along the way, the guys get an education in the form of advice from numerous 80's rock luminaries including The Killer Dwarfs, Lorraine Lewis (Femme Fatale), Warrant, Jason McMaster, Tesla, Jack Russell, Steve Blaze (Lillian Axe), and Ron Keel. They also get advice from media personalities such as Eddie Trunk and Luc Carl.

            Hair I Go Again

Hair I Go Again was a long time coming as the film was crowd funded a few years ago while the guys were on their journey to reunite the band. As you'll see in the film, getting 5 guys back together again is not an easy task. In this talk, Steve McClure shares his take on the making of the movie including quitting his day job to fully invest in this project, the tension between he and his partner on this journey Kyle Kruger, and what it was like to throw all caution to the wind in an effort to find out what might have been.

iTunes Review:

Thank Goodness For This Resource

by Johnk5150 on Apr 04, 2016
Rating: ★★★★★

Killing some time while transitioning from one city to another I stumbled across this show by accident. I'm glad I did. I searched hard rock in iTunes and a breakdown of Warrant's Dog Eat Dog with producer Michael Wagener popped up. Being a huge fan of that perfect record I downloaded it to give it a shot. Wagener offered great insight and nuggets I had never known. The two hosts asked GREAT questions and they played most of an album I haven't heard in years. I went back and started picking off things that interested me. What I found was nothing less than brilliant. I had about 2800 CDs at the time. Having been re/introduced to things I'd never heard before or in years I went straight to the web and started buying music as if I had all the money in the world. I don't have all the money in the world. But I don't care as I have about a hundred more CDs as a direct result of this show. Who needs food? Music feeds my soul. These guys conduct great interviews and have been a great resource for hearing old forgotten classics. Just as important is they've introduced me to a lot of great new music. It's a great blend of memory lane and discovery street. Keep it up guys. You have a new subscriber and I will click through before purchasing anything on Amazon from now on. John

Love from the Talk Toomey Podcast

by Tallk Toomey on Mar 13, 2016
RATING: ★★★★★

One of my favorite podcasts. I listen to them weekly and they make the workday go by so much faster. Chris and Aaron will bring up bands that no one has talked about since 1984 and make you remember why you loved them. A definite listen and love the Vinnie Vincent episoides.

I used to like it......

by Lieshcritter on Mar 11, 2016
RATING: ★★★☆☆

Songs about school? Are you kidding me. The last 5 or six episodes have been really boring, please go back to playing cool songs. I don't know, I used to like it. Seems like you're trying news things, but the old ways are more fun to listen too.

RATING: ★★★★★

Old school DJ's playing new and old music. Having an opinion. A good interview. And playing songs other than the "single". If these are things you miss I suggest listening to this podcast. Now listening for over 2 years I can't get enough. Some other i no longer listen but these guys hit the mark. Aaron and Chris play off each other great and you can tell they are friends, which lends to the positive feel.

Former FireHouse bassist Perry Richardson sits down with Chris & Aaron to discuss his career in rock music. In this hour-plus discussion, Perry shares stories of his early history with bands such as Maxx Warrior and Nantucket. He then moves on to discuss the formation and rise of FireHouse. On the success of the singles 'Don't Treat Me Bad' and 'Love of a Lifetime,' FireHouse's self-titled debut album took off; selling over 2 million copies. The band won the 1992 American Music Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance, beating out up and coming Grunge acts Alice in Chains and Nirvana. In this conversation, Perry shares the story of a not-so-friendly encounter with Alice in Chains at the awards show after-party.

conversation with perry richardson decibel geek podcast episode 227

Perry Richardson

FireHouse's second album 'Hold Your Fire' also achieved success on the chart activity of singles 'Reach for the Sky', 'When I Look Into Your Eyes,' and 'Sleeping with You;' the latter of which Perry has no love lost. In this long-form talk, he also shares road stories of touring with Poison and Damn Yankees, including an interesting exchange with Ted Nugent on his way to the stage.

While the American heyday of FireHouse seems to be limited to their first two albums, things were just getting started for the band around the world. With the release of 1995's '3' album, the band was propelled to stardom overseas; especially in Asia. In this long form talk, Perry shares some incredible stories about an extended tour of Indonesia that includes near-death experiences as well as a story of crew member disappearing in the most shocking of ways.

1998 saw a resurgence in interest in "hair bands" and FireHouse was certainly in the mix as they toured along with Warrant, Quiet Riot, LA Guns, and Slaughter for the Rock Never Stops tour.

Perry Richardson left FireHouse in 2000 after touring on the release of 1998's 'Category 5' album. In this talk, he shares his take on what led to his exit from the band and how that exit led him to Nashville and his current gig as bassist for country music star Craig Morgan.

Thank goodness for the Decibel Geek podcast. By far the best podcast on the net! I started out by listening to a lot of the Kiss episodes.. After hearing how good those were I’ve been listening to them all for the past 2 months. Your albums unleashed are some of the most interesting podcasts of all! Great choices on the albums you have featured! I’m a UPS driver in Northern Indiana and you guys help me get through the day.. I’ve downloaded all your podcasts and have pretty much heard every episode in the past couple of months! I’m a huge KISS fan and a Huge Vinnie Vincent fan! The 6 part Vinnie episodes were so good! Can’t wait for the 7th. Hopefully he will actually come on your show and give his side of the story. I met him on the Lick It Up Tour in Chicago! He couldn’t have been a nicer guy to me and my friends.. Anyway I just wanted to say thank you guys for doing what you do.. Great show!!

In August of 1992, Warrant were flying high on the success of the mega-huge Cherry Pie album. While the success was nice, the band wanted to go in a tougher direction with their next album. Enlisting super producer Michael Wagener, the band headed into the studio in 1991 to lay down tracks for what would become Dog Eat Dog. Filled with big, crunchy riffs on songs such as Machine Gun, Hole in My Wall, and Inside Out, experiments in darker subject matter on tunes like Bitter Pill and Andy Warhol was Right as well as melodic tunes that could bring the house down such as Let it Rain and Sad Theresa, Dog Eat Dog was poised to be one of the all-time classic rock albums. The only problem was, a scraggly trio from Seattle named Nirvana was taking the world by storm literally days before the release of Dog Eat Dog. The tide shifted overnight and this amazing album never got it's just due....until today.

Albums Unleashed Dog Eat Dog Warrant Episode 224

Albums Unleashed Warrant Dog Eat Dog

Producer Michael Wagener sits down with Chris and Aaron this week for Albums Unleashed Warrant Dog Eat Dog - Ep224. In this hour-plus discussion you'll sit along with the guys as they talk about the origins of the album, how Michael was selected as producer, pre-production stories and a full-on track by track that puts you in the room as Michael listens to the album for the first time in many years. It's one of the most in-depth Albums Unleashed episodes Decibel Geek has ever released. So, sit back, enjoy Albums Unleashed Warrant Dog Eat Dog - Ep224 and SHARE with a friend.
